    Former Governor Barnes and
the Democrats in the Georgia Legislature changed the flag of Georgia
in 2001. Opinions vary, ranging from "The new flag ignores our heritage" to
"The new flag still has a racist emblem on it" and everything in between.
Atlanta Mayor Shirley Franklin has reportedly indicated that all three flags
are racist and opposes the referendum, along with Joseph Lowery, who has
begun a movement to get black voters to boycott the referendum.
Lowery's efforts notwithstanding, the referendum will likely take place. As
a result, we've put this poll up in an effort to allow visitors to make
the opinion known.
    Governor Perdue has proposed the following two referendum questions
as a means of resolving the flag dispute and putting the issue to bed. Here
are the same questions he proposed (and setting this up cost nothing close
to the $2 million Cathy Cox says it's gonna cost):
